Hello, I’m Sarah from Maplewood Council. Here’s how to sort your household recycling into the right bins at our community collection points.
Start with the material. Newspapers, office paper, cardboard boxes, and paperboard packaging go in the blue Paper & Cardboard bin. Plastic bottles, food tins, and drinks cans belong in the yellow Plastic & Metal bin, while glass bottles and jars go in the green Glass bin. Check the material label on each bin before putting anything in, rather than relying on colour alone.
Once you’ve chosen the right bin, prepare the items before dropping them in. Empty bottles, jars, and cans, remove leftover food, and give them a quick rinse if residue remains. Flatten cardboard boxes and keep paper and cardboard dry. Place everything loose in its designated bin, so the sorting team can separate the materials without opening plastic bags.
Once your recycling is ready, bring it to the collection point at Maplewood Community Centre, 24 Oak Street. It’s beside the main entrance and open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Check the label, empty your containers, and place each item loose in the right bin. Thanks for helping Maplewood recycle correctly.
