Hello, I’m James, a project manager at Alder & Stone Renovations. Before your kitchen renovation starts, let’s cover the decisions to lock in, the order of work, and what to check before handover.
First, confirm your kitchen layout, cabinet dimensions, countertop materials, appliances, and outlet locations against the drawings. Make sure everything fits, including space for appliance doors to open. Approve these details before demolition, and document any later changes along with their cost and schedule impact.
Once the plan is approved, work begins with demolition, followed by plumbing, electrical work, and required inspections. After repairing the walls, the team installs and levels the cabinets before taking final countertop measurements. Then comes the backsplash, sink and appliance installation, and final testing. Remember to account for countertop fabrication time in your schedule.
After installation, walk through the kitchen with your project manager. Check cabinet doors, drawers, handles, and countertop finishes. Test the sink for leaks and make sure all appliances work properly. Record any remaining issues with photos, assigned responsibilities, and completion dates. Before handover, collect all warranties, care instructions, and inspection records.
A successful renovation starts with clear planning and ends with careful checks. Keep your approved plans and schedule handy, and work closely with your project manager every step of the way.
