Good morning team! Before customers walk through those doors, every part of the store needs to be operational, organized, and customer-ready. I’m Melissa, store manager, and let’s run through our opening procedure.
First step, security and safety checks. Disarm the alarm system, inspect entry points, and confirm emergency exits are clear and unlocked from the inside. If you notice damaged shelving, spills, or exposed wiring, report it immediately before opening.
Next, sales floor readiness. Front-facing products need to be aligned, promotional displays fully stocked, and fitting rooms cleared of returned items. Yesterday, we sold out of the beige tote display by noon, make sure replacements are pulled from back stock before opening.
Registers should be logged in, receipt paper checked, and opening cash counts verified against the morning sheet. No transactions start until counts are confirmed.
Customer-ready also means presentation. Entrance glass, mirrors, counters, and high-touch areas must be cleaned before the first customer enters.
When the store opens smoothly, customers notice it immediately, the atmosphere, the organization, the service. Alright team, five minutes to open. Let’s get ready for a strong day.
