A chemical spill requires quick, focused action. At Eupetro, your safety—and the environment—always comes first. Here’s how to handle it.

Start by assessing the situation. Identify the chemical and its hazards using the SDS sheets. If there’s any immediate danger, evacuate the area, pull the alarm, and alert your supervisor and emergency responders right away.

Never approach a spill without the proper PPE. Secure the area to keep anyone unauthorized out, and ventilate the space if it’s safe to do so.

Contain the spill immediately using approved absorbents and barriers, making sure it doesn’t spread to drains or other areas. Always follow the specific instructions in the SDS for that chemical.

When it’s time to clean up, use approved methods: neutralize, collect, and safely containerize the waste. Decontaminate all tools, PPE, and affected surfaces, and document everything carefully.

Finally, report every spill, no matter how small. File your incident report within 24 hours and participate in debriefs to help improve protocols and prevent future incidents.

At Eupetro, we take care of our people—and our planet.
