Hi, I’m Rachel from Westbrook Outfitters. Today, we’ll count one clothing section from start to finish, including how to record different sizes and investigate a stock mismatch.
Before counting, pause stock movements and record the count time. Label each location, such as A1 for display racks and B1 for backroom shelves. Keep damaged items and returns separate, and record the location, stock code, description, quantity, and your initials on the count sheet.
Next, count each stock code and size separately. For example, if you find six medium navy T-shirts on rack A1 and four on shelf B1, record both locations for a total of ten. Large sizes must be counted separately. Count garments rather than hangers, check partially filled cartons, and mark each location complete.
Now suppose the system lists 12 medium navy shirts, but your total is ten. Ask a colleague to recount independently. If the difference remains, check the fitting room, returns, and stock movements against your count time. Record any confirmed transfer that explains the difference. Otherwise, report the two-unit shortage as unresolved rather than adjusting the numbers yourself.
Before submitting, double-check your counts and report any discrepancies. Thank you for helping keep our inventory accurate!
