The first step is preparation and safety checks. Before starting the infusion, always verify the physician’s order, inspect the pump for any visible damage, and confirm that the correct medication, dosage, and flow rate are prepared as prescribed.

Next, program and start the infusion by selecting the appropriate infusion mode and entering the required settings, including medication, flow rate, volume, and infusion time. Before starting, carefully review all settings to ensure everything is accurate and follows the required protocol.

During the infusion, continuous monitoring and alarm management are essential. Check the pump display regularly, respond promptly to any alarms, identify and resolve issues, and confirm that the infusion continues safely.
