Ever wonder why lemon juice tastes sour or soap feels slippery? It all comes down to pH! Let’s break down the pH scale. the secret behind acids, bases, and everything in between!

The pH scale measures how acidic or basic a solution is. It runs from 0 to 14. 0 means super acidic, 14 is super basic, and right in the middle at 7? That’s neutral, like pure water.

Here’s a quick trick: acids turn litmus paper red, bases turn it blue. Simple and pretty cool, right?

Your stomach acid is crazy strong—around pH 1.5—which helps you digest food. On the flip side, something like bleach sits way up at pH 13 and is used for cleaning!

Now that you're basically a pH expert, try testing a few safe liquids at home—just remember: no drinking the experiments! Catch you in the next lesson!
