E-Lecture

Hello, I'm Chelsea with Kids University, and today I'll be teaching you why salt disappears in water but sand doesn’t.
Let’s break down the chemistry of solutions with three key concepts!
First concept: Solvent vs Solute. Water, a solvent, breaks apart salt, which is a solute and breaks into into ions—that’s called dissolution!
The next concept is Polarity Power, water’s polar molecules attract charged particles—nonpolar sand can’t bond.
Solubility Rules. Heat speeds up dissolution by giving molecules more energy.
Try it yourself to visualize these discussed concepts. Try Adding 10g salt to 100mL water, stir until dissolved. Now Filter the sand-water mix. Do you see the difference?
That's all for today, for homework, test 5 household solvents, record results and share during our next class. Goodbye for now.
